The puzzle pictured is made of 1/8" plywood for the inner box and a combination of 1/8" Alder and Walnut for the outer faces.

The smallest and simplest of the puzzle boxes-the box is only
2” x 2” x 2”, with a little sliding panel on each side. Only one panel
will move, simply find this, then another panel will move, and so on,
like “follow my leader”, until one side can be removed. But halfway
through, you discover that more than one panel can be moved. Easy to
open, takes only seven moves.
This puzzle is made using ⅛” plywood and basswood. The little panels
can be covered with a Celtic pattern; these are included in the plans.
If you purchase a kit with hardwood faces you can choose to have the
sliders be a different hardwood (Ash, Cherry, Mahogany, Maple, Oak or
Walnut).
This BH puzzle kit has alignment pegs built into the parts to make assembly easier and virtually every part in the kit is labeled. The plans for this kit are free.
